Why Bloom?

We chose the name Bloom for two simple reasons.

First, while our pants can handle all kinds of leaks, they’re made with periods in mind — and we think periods are something to be embraced, not hidden. Bloom speaks to growth, confidence, nature and that powerful coming-of-age moment we all remember.

Second, we love what it represents. From the ankle-length lace bloomers of the Victorian era, to the knickers we wear today, women’s underwear has always evolved. We see our absorbent period pants as the next step — the Bloomers of the future.

What we stand for

We want to work towards closing the gender gap by supporting women to flourish. The UN estimates that 1 in 10 girls in Sub-Sahara Africa miss school during their periods, equating to a loss of 20% of the school year, a sad statistic which is echoed around the world. Even in the UK, over 130,000 girls miss school every year as they cannot afford period products. Even with period products, menstruation impacts many lives, with women 40% more likely than men to suffer from insomnia due to our hormonal cycles. Our solution works to give women and girls the tools they need to manage their period (and other bodily leaks!) in a comfortable and stress-free manner, to focus more energy on blossoming into their full potential. We aim to achieve this in both our product offering and by donating resources to non-profits to support those in need.  

We are also proud advocates for the climate revolution, and support a practicable change in consumer behaviour. Our products inherently achieve this by reducing plastic waste and carbon footprints as well as promoting a more circular economy.
