Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our beautiful period panties have 4 layers of the latest absorbency technology to hold all your bodily leaks. Each design are slightly different to reflect the different absorbency level and style. They all work the same way a pad would do, absorbing your period. The benefits are that unlike a pad, there are no chemicals, they won't slip or cause a rash, they're better for the environment with no single use plastics, plus they look way more attractive and feel considerably more comfortable.

  • Other than colour and style, the main difference is the absorbency and the materials used. All our products are made with layers in the gusset (the absorbency part) to keep you dry and leak free. All of our Bloomers are designed leaving you more comfortable, less stressed about spills, and able to flourish regardless of your cycle.

Our Classic Black No VPL Bloomers (holds 3 tampons) are made from:

Layer 1 - a super fast absorption to keep you dry (think like sweat wicking gym tops).

Layer 2 – an ultra thin, ultra absorbent layer, locking in the moisture.

Layer 3 - the waterproof later, ensuring everything that should stay in the panties - does!

These classic black panties also have an extra waterproof barrier around the perimeter to provide extra support against leaks.

These are great to replace disposable pads and tampons as you sleep or while you're out and about. They're no VPL so are ideal under gym tights or a tight dress where you'll be super comfortable and have that gorgeous seamless look.

Our Blue Leopard No VPL Bloomers (holds 1 tampon) are made from:

Layer 1- cotton, keeping you natural and fresh, allowing breathability and for the liquid to travel through to the absorbent layer.

Layer 2 - the second is the ultra thin, ultra absorbent layer, locking in the moisture.

Layer 3- the waterproof later, ensuring everything that should stay in the panties - does!

These are great for the times that don't really warrant a pad or tampon (maybe a liner?) but you don't want to risk ruining other pretty knickers. They're seamless so will be ideal for times when you need a no VPL!

Our Leopard Lace Bloomers (holds 3 tampons) are made from:

Layer 1 - cotton, keeping you natural and fresh, allowing breathability and for the liquid to travel through to the absorbent layer.

Layer 2 - the second layer is the ultra thin, ultra absorbent layer, locking in the moisture.

Layer 3 - the waterproof later, ensuring everything that should stay in the panties - does!

Period pants never looked so good! These are the perfect combination of super absorbent and sexy. They're super soft making them ideal to sleep in or to wear in the day.

  • Everyone is different and so will have different needs. However you know your body and period better than anyone else, so only you can safely answer this question. Some general guidance would be to follow your usual routine...

If you have a heavy flow at night and usually sleep in a tampon and a pad, replace the pad with the Classic Black No VPLs or the Leopard Lace Bloomers.

If you usually have minimal flow overnight and usually use a pad that remains pretty empty, we recommend sleeping in the Blue Leopard No VPL.

If you're last few days are light (more like spotting) we recommend the Blue Leopard No VPL.

If you usually use 2 tampons over a day, use the Leopard Lace or Classic Black No VPLs instead.

For first timers, we recommend trialing a pair at home so you feel safe and secure to change as and when is right for you. If you start to feel wet, then it's likely the middle absorbency layer has reached capacity and so it's time to change. Until you've figured it out, we recommend carrying your usual disposables just in case.

  • 3 super easy steps to care for Bloomers:

    1. After you've worn your Bloomers, rinse them through under a tap until they run clear. This should be done ASAP after you taken them off however if you need to wait till the end of the day (maybe you're at work and don’t want to wash them in the public loo's), then as soon as you get home is also fine.

    2. Put them in the wash with all your other laundry on a 30 degree setting. They don't need any fabric conditioner (they're soft enough!) and the conditioner can interfere with the middle absorbency layer.

    3. Hang out to dry. Tumble drying will reduce how long they last.

  • No! Blood does not have a strong odour, however vaginal fluid can create a bacteria which is totally natural and may have a minor smell. The first layers on all our panties absorbs the fluid and any potential odour which is then locked away in the middle absorbent layer. If you think you're starting to be able to smell something, it could be time to change your Bloomers.

  • Absolutely not! All of our Bloomers use the latest technology available to ensure you remain totally dry. So long as you match your flow to the right absorbency you'll remain dry and protected against leaks.

  • When you're on your period / about to come on / at the end of your cycle. They can be used throughout your cycle, with some people wholly relying on period pants and no longer using any disposables. As per your cycle, you know how heavy your flow is likely to be and what works best for you at different times.

  • Super thin! Granted slightly thicker than normal undies, but much thinner than pads.

  • No! Just like a disposable pad, they have a waterproof layer to keep everything in the panties where they should be. When they're full however, they will need changing. This will be evident as you'll start to feel slightly damp / you typically know your flow and how often you would usually need to change a pad or tampon.

Our Classic Black No VPL Bloomers have an extra layer of waterproofing around the perimeter making leaks even less likely.

  • This is totally dependent on your flow and will likely vary for you across your cycle. We recommend trialing a pair at home so you feel safe and secure to change as and when is right for you. If you start to feel wet, then it's likely the middle absorbency layer has reached capacity and so it's time to change. Until you've figured it out, we recommend carrying your usual disposables just in case.

  • This largely depends on how often they're used and how they're cared for. Underwear is considered a delicate product so we recommend caring for them as per instructions to get the most out of them. When well cared for, Bloomers should last 2-3 years.

  • Whilst designed with periods in mind, Bloomers will support minor incontinence and light leeks.
