What’s the fuss about period pants?
Period pants: the superhero of your monthly cycle!
Picture this: you're out running errands, having a busy day, and all of a sudden you feel a little dampness down below. Uh oh, it's your period and you didn't bring any extra protection with you. What now?

4 myth busting facts about period pants
Myth 1: period pants feel wet
Gosh can you imagine?! No – there's a reason why period pants are growing in popularity, and if you felt wet, they definitely wouldn't be on the rise.
In our experience period pants do not feel wet. The super absorbent high-tech lining makes sure the blood is locked away and we stay nice and dry.
If you're especially heavy however, for peace of mind, there is nothing wrong with pairing period undies with a menstrual cup or tampon. And if you do start to feel a bit moist, chances are the undies are full and it's time for a fresh pair.
Myth 2: period pants feel bulky / like a nappy
It's understandable why some people would think period pants feel bulky, but we don't think those people have ever tried period undies!
They are SO much thinner than a pad and there are no issues with them moving around or chafing.
Our personal faves are Bloom's leopard lace bloomers because they also look and feel like super cute normal underwear.
Myth 3: Period panties smell
Absolutely not!
We regularly wear period knickers for a full day and have never been randomly overcome with bloody odour. In fact, blood doesn't even have a smell! The super absorbent technology that locks the blood away also keeps any potential smell locked away too.
Don't get me wrong, after 8 hours in period knickers, one would not expect to be fresh as a daisy, but no one, including yourself, should be able to smell anything either.
Myth 4: You have to handwash period pants
Well, it is best practice to rinse them out....
... but then you can toss them in the washing machine and be done with it!
Rinsing them out before you wash them helps with the longevity of period underwear, helping you get more wears for your money! Also, unless you're putting a wash on every day, they'll need to sit in your laundry basket for a few days, and no one wants to return to days old bloody knickers! That being said, if you are doing laundry regularly, there is no harm in taking them off and putting them straight in the wash.
Remember though, only was on a cold cycle and don't tumble dry (again, helps the super absorbent technology last longer!)
What are period pants and how do they work?
Period pants are the future!
Period pants are underwear worn by menstruators on their periods. They look and feel like normal undies but have a highly absorbent gusset (lining) which holds the blood. The top lining (next to your skin) is super permeable and quick drying, meaning blood quickly soaks through and dries super quickly, meaning you stay nice and dry. Blood is held in the underwear with super absorbent material and has a waterproof lining, meaning it holds all your period with no leaks. After you've worn them, you wash and dry them ready to wear again.
Lets talk spotting…
Spotting is light vaginal bleeding that occurs outside of your regular period and typically involves small amounts of blood that wouldn't fill a panty liner. Most cases are harmless, require no medical intervention and isn’t something to worry about. Typically, spotting:
is lighter in flow
is pink, reddish, or brown
doesn’t last longer than 1 or 2 days
Has one or more days without bleeding before or after menstruation.
Is not accompanied by cramps or clots.
Spotting can occur at any time of your cycle and is often linked to ovulation, but sometimes it’s a signal of other changes in your body. If you're concerned about any spotting or irregular bleeding you should see a doctor.
Period Pain
Unfortunately, most uterus owners will suffer with period pain at some point in their lives. The feeling of cramps, heaviness, intense spasms or a constant, dull pain. While there is no immediate way to stop period pains, most cases can be treated with ordinary painkillers or by applying heat. We recommend tracking your periods and symptoms to get to know your cycle better.
